Hi! Thanks for being curious enough to visit this page. I am an 80-something artist, writer and teacher living in Northern California. When I was on the career path I spent many years in marketing communications helping other people find the words they wanted. After I retired, I put my energy into telling my own stories and painting my own pictures.
Over the years I’ve written hundreds of essays, a bunch of children’s stories, a lot of poetry and related dozens of anecdotes. Except for a handful of poems, I was not successful in capturing the interest of any publishers for my creative writing.
So this site is my swan song and as close as I can get to putting my written work out there – where ever there is! In addition to this site, I also have a second one, “Remembering the Sacred Self at marietaylor.ink. This site features sacred poetry, meditations, reflections and prayer – not everyone’s cup of tea.
Meanwhile, in 2000 my interest in art emerged and the first time I was ever in a show, I sold my piece. Go figure! I couldn’t sell my writing, but the art (for which I had no formal training) was popular.
My art has now gone through several phases: Asian inkwash, mandala design, folk art and most recently, watercolors. Plus, I teach art at local community centers and via zoom classes. Some of the recent work can be seen on Instagram at instagram.com/marietaylor.ink/. I will upload some of the older Asian, folk and mandala art when I figure out how to do this website business better.
