Worshipping the Sun

My understanding of things scientific is limited to broad and sweeping generalities. This by no means deters me from devising speculative theories such as those I have been pondering of late about the nature of the sun.

From what I understand, the sun is like a gigantic atomic furnace that throbs and shudders and explodes with unceasing and limitless energy. As the heart of our solar system, its rays provide life-creating conditions here on earth. It is not surprising that the power of the sun gave rise to both fear and worship and was deified by our ancient ancestors,

I have also read that our sun is a star, kin to the billions that inhabit our Milky Way. If we were somehow magically transported to another galaxy, our mighty sun would be just another spark in a dark and distant heaven.

I recalled the ancient adage, “As above, so below” and continued by speculations.

If the sun is the heart of our solar system, then the heart that gives life to our bodies is our own personal sun. In the center of our being, we carry a mini-star that gives life each instant. As we scale downward, does not every cell in our bodies have a nucleus that is its heart and gives it life? Within each atom does not an infinitesimal sun abide?

We are slowly understanding that the earth itself is a living being and as such, has some level of consciousness. Can we then infer that our solar sun is also conscious? As are cells, atoms and quantum entities.

Then I considered the theory that when a star dies it can become a black hole that sucks all light back into itself. Some scientists believe that these black holes collapse into white holes creating a torsion field which then gives birth to new stars and new solar systems creating an infinite series of Big Bangs.

Is this perhaps what happens when we die? Do we collapse into ourselves, and then emerge newborn and vital in another universe, another dimension?

But as I said, my grasp of modern science is slippery at best, but I am intrigued by the possibility that within my heart a star resides that beats in silent unison with a galactic family.
